The Faith of Our Fathers

With all of the negatives that our Founding Fathers face in these modern and uncertain times...
With attempts by an ignorant far left, to turn them into boogeymen...
The type of men they, actually, were, the faith which sustained them -- cannot be disputed, no matter how hard they may try!
Some historical tidbits:
The 'Bible of the Revolution', was the first English version to be printed in America.
Prior to the Revolution, the Bible, (along with everything else) was regulated by the British Government.
Mr. Robert Aitken petitioned Congress for this bible to be used in our schools.
Also referred to as "the Aitken's Bible", in 1782, Congress approved the petition.
Dr. Benjamin Franklin, never ceased to amaze those around him. At, yet another, low point, in our humble beginning, he was an encourager.
The one reminding President George Washington --- to have a little faith:
"How has this happened, Sir, that we have not hitherto once thought of humbly appealing to the Father of lights to illuminate our understandings? On the beginning of the contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible to danger, we had daily prayers - in this room - for Divine protection. Our prayers Sir, were heard and they were graciously answered. I have lived, Sir, a long time and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth --- that God governs in the affairs of men - And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured Sir, in the sacred writings that "except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that built it" -Benjamin Franklin June 28, 1787
During our fight for freedom, while we fought to defeat tyranny, the Continental Congress called the people to be in prayer on at least fifteen separate occasions.
The Founding Fathers openly acknowledged God four times (could go with five, if you count “created” and “Creator” separately) in the writing of our Declaration of Independence.
"And to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them..."
"We hold these truths to be self evident; that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness - That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed..."
"We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge Of The World for the Rectitude of our Intentions..."
"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge..."
Twenty-nine of the original 56 Signers held Seminary degrees.
Alexander Hamilton was involved in the formation of the 'Christian Constitutional Society', it was also
Alexander Hamilton who said:
"The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam in the whole volume of human nature, by the Hand of Divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power."
Benjamin Rush founded the Bible Society and began the Sunday School movement.
Judge Thomas McKean delivered the Gospel, in the Courtroom.
John Witherspoon was involved in Bible translations.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt said:
"In the formative days of the Republic, the directing influence the Bible exercised upon the Fathers of this Nation is conspicuously evident. We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a Nation without reckoning with the place the Bible occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic."
"Of the many influences that have shaped the United States of America into a distinctive Nation and People, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible." - Ronald W. Reagan
"With all these blessings, what more is necessary to make us a happy and prosperous people? Still one thing more fellow citizens - A wise and frugal Government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.This is the sum of good Government and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities." - Thomas Jefferson

Forged in Faith!
"All authority belongs to the people", words spoken by one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson.
Thomas Jefferson knew this, our Founders knew this, not only due to "a firm reliance on divine Providence".
They knew it through a study of history. Because they intently and purposefully studied all manners of history, they knew that in order for America to work, to be the exception, the people would have to hold all authority!
In order for America to be sustained throughout time...
Guidelines born out of the Law of Moses, would need to be enacted and so they were.
The Law handed down to Moses, granted us authority and granted us our God-given rights.
The first Christian settlers to this land, immediately gave thanks to God.
Upon their arrival, they entered into a Covenant with God, via the Mayflower Compact.
That same Compact that would be instrumental in the forging of the documents exclusive to the United States of America!
Our Founding Fathers, utilizing their God-given wisdom, understood, and through their wisdom, they worded the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, to reflect that basic truth.
Stronger than steel, unbendable, indestructible, the Faith of our Fathers!
