The Attack On Iran: a Long Time Coming

I was in high school, when Jimmy Carter became the 39th President of the United States. I didn't give him much thought, one way or the other.

He seemed to be a nice man, the people liked him, and elected him President.

It turned out, the soft spoken, plain-talking, nice man from Plains, was a long way from his farm in Georgia, and in way over his head!

He was not a born-leader, he was a born appeaser.

There is a place for appeasers, but it is definitely not as the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America!

On foreign policy, Carter failed miserably.

His policy:

If only, Israel would give more territory to the Palestinian territories...

If only, Israel would maintain its course on the high road.

If only, Israel would give and then give a little more...

If only, they could forgive the constant target on their backs!

If only!

But everything was always, and only, asked of, and expected from, Israel!

Appeasement!

It has always been evident that the more Israel gives up - the more aggressive their enemy, namely, Iran, becomes!

It is non-ending, because Israel's enemies don't just want their land. Their enemies do not seek harmony, nor wish to live in peace with Israel as their neighbor.

Israel's enemies ultimate desire, is that Israel be annihilated, and not exist!

In the case of the Iran hostage crisis, [the U.S.embassy in Iran was attacked and American hostages were taken] Carter believed that with time and with patience the Captors would capitulate. He reasoned that with more talks and with more diplomacy; if we'd give and then give a little more, the hostages would be freed.

Appeasement!

Our hostages were not released...

and it wore on and on, for hundreds of days, before a failed rescue attempt.

Carter was seen as weak, therefore, America was seen as weak!

The leftist dream, if we'll just give this and give that, and talk it to death! If we could just be more diplomatic, and show more love, the bad guys will understand us, and will love us back.

But, evil doesn’t love back!

Carter always seemed to be looking out for a foreign interest or any other interest over America's best interest and as a result, it backfired and left him expertly... wringing his hands!

Sound familiar?

Once upon a time in America, we would deal with gas lines during the day. At night we would turn on the news and see footage of blindfolded, captive Americans, as they were mocked and paraded through the streets of a foreign land.....

To say the least, morale was at an all time low!

We were witnessing a President, in over his head and at a loss, as to what to do next, but then, in came Ronald Reagan, without hesitation as to what to do next!

No time for hand wringing, pacing, sulking, or appeasing!

It was all about getting the hostages, our fellow Americans, back home without further delay.... and that he did!

He was not like anyone else, and he wasn't buying that our best days were over, and behind us.

Far from it!

He believed that America was still great, and had never ceased to be great!

He did not spew scripted words.

He spoke encouraging words, which he believed in!

I started to get engaged.

I was intrigued by this man!

I began to truly understand that we were not a lost cause.

Our best days were not behind us!

We were still the greatest Country that God gave man!

After all, as a teenager, I was witnessing, first hand, the opposite of conservatism; I was witnessing liberalism/socialism/progressivism all in one, in action, and it was inconvenient, unpleasant, expensive, and something I wanted no part of!

I was young, I had just begun and I was spending it in long gas lines, only allowed to purchase a few gallons of costly gasoline at a time, making sure that my allotted supply lasted until my next appointed day!

I was watching, as U.S. citizens held captive in Iran, were defiantly being flaunted in our faces, for the entire World to see, each and every night on the evening News!

When my adult life was just getting started, nothing but doom and gloom was on the horizon.

Reagan came in with a peace through strength philosophy!

Sound familiar?

Yes, he, like the majority of the world, wanted peace and yes, he, like the majority of the world, did not want to be at war, but he also recognized that a dangerous element exists! They live with the hope of gaining power or worse - they live to destroy!

Reagan instinctively knew that you cannot take your eye off of the enemy, not for a single minute! Therefore, you must have a strong military in place!

A dangerous element knows when there is a strong leader in charge, backed by a strong military and a supportive constituency and when there is not.

Again, does any of this sound familiar?

I believe that Jimmy Carter was a good man, with a good heart and that as President, he really thought he could build bridges, bring peace, and end all war forever, but -

"Only the dead have seen the end of war" - Plato

A lot of us had been hoping and praying for another Reagan for a long time.

• Strong in Faith, with defined core principles.

• A strong constitutionalist; defender of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

• A belief in small government and in a strong, massive and capable military!

• A doer, a leader, not a hand-wringing, let's just talk about it without fixing it, appeasing politician!

To the politicians, in particular, the Democrats:

Don't push back for the sake of pushing back against those things which are in the best interest of the United States.

Don't continue to jeopardize our safety or forsake this Nation --- in order to appease your hate for President Trump!

This attack on Iran had to happen!

You all know it, the world knows it - even the [most likely, now deceased] Ayatollah of Iran, knew it!

I pray for those who fight for freedom, and I pray that the Iranian people will know freedom, once again!
