I cannot remember a time when I’ve heard or read so many views and opinions about “the end of days”, “WWIII”, “Christ’s return”, etc.
When I was young, I would hear it from a church pew on any given Fire and Brimstone Sunday!
These type of sermons were a staple back in the day — designed to scare the heebie jeebies out of me!
It, apparently, worked, for I have never been treated for any such condition!
In all seriousness —
and to be crystal clear ,
where we will spend eternity, is very serious business! Whether a 7 year old ought to be scared into submission - well that’s another story!
Matthew 24: 3–6 (KJV) “And as he [Jesus] sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”
In other words, outside of God the Father, no one (no, not one) knows the time!
The end of days, the return of Christ, has been long predicted, but no one knows with any certainty!
In my lifetime, I have seen many predictions come… and then pass!
Some have looked to the sky, convinced they had pinpointed the exact moment in time! But, other than a real good look at the sky - were left to ponder what meaning…..
It is not for us to predict, it is not for for us to worry ourselves sick over!
But, at the same time, that doesn’t mean that we should be dismissive of God’s Word!
From what I read, we aren’t to consume ourselves with when, but, rather, live by faith, seek God’s favor, and work to win souls for Christ.
In love, and without scaring the heebie jeebies out of folks, preferably!
Revelation 3:2 "Behold, I [Jesus Christ] stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me".
This scripture signifies relationship!
Which is what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, seeks!
He isn’t looking to knock us over the head with it or scare us into submission…
He doesn’t expect us to be dragged through the coals, in order to earn it…
Romans 6:23 refers to death as the wage (or cost) of sin.
But, Jesus has already done the suffering!
He paid the price, when he took our place — on the cross!
Time spent in searching the signs for the end of days, would be better invested in searching God’s Word for his plan for us - in the here and now!
Do we believe, and why or why not?
What have we yet to learn?
Outside of ourselves, who do we choose to serve?
There are many scriptures in the Holy Bible which can be interpreted in many different ways.
I don’t believe that to be the case when it comes to end times and Christ’s return.
We know he will return, for he told us so…
but, signs and wonders, crazy weather, rumors of war, or modern day prophets… are not telltale!
Guard your heart.
Trust in God’s word, and live according to his Will.
Not with perfection, for only HE is perfect, but with purpose!
Don’t get too caught up in doomsday countdowns — that time is better served living… and loving life, at its absolute fullest!
P.S. Happy Easter All
